Creator of Medical Minis

The reason this all began…... Aubrey is the face behind every Medical Mini. She puts her heart into creating something that will bring joy to any child dealing with medical issues. It all started with a cute unicorn that she wanted to look like her and an amazing child life specialist (Mallory) that gave her a matching feeding tube and a pair of scissors! This stuffed animal brought her so much joy during a very hard time in her life and she was able to look at something that looked like her and smile :) God has called her to share that joy with children all around the world and she gratefully answered! Galations 6:9

Aubrey's Gastroparesis Journey

Aubrey began experiencing pain and nausea after eating and had multiple tests done, but none provided answers to explain her symptoms. Eventually, a gastric emptying study confirmed she had gastroparesis.

A few months after her diagnosis, she struggled to tolerate any food and needed to have a feeding tube placed. This nasal tube is what led to the creation of Medical Minis. She had her NJ tube for 14 months.

After no longer being able to tolerate her tube feeds, she had a PICC line placed and was put on TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) while awaiting her next treatment option. Through every test, procedure, and inpatient stay her mini has always been by her side.

Aubrey was referred to Dr. Safder, a motility specialist at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando, the only Pediatric Motility Center in the Southeastern US.

For two years we worked with her Doctor, but every treatment option failed.

We never stopped praying for a miracle- and little did we know, God was already working through the hands of Dr Safder. She fought for Aubrey to receive a GES (gastric pacemaker). Aubrey became the first child to have one implanted at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando.

Aubrey has been thriving since having her GES implanted in July 2024. After years of not being able to tolerate food, she can finally enjoy all the things she missed out on thanks to her little "miracle".

About Aubrey

Gastroparesis has taken so much from Aubrey, but she's learning that what has been lost can be replaced with something new. There are good days and there are hard days, but through it all she held onto hope. She always tells others "God's not done writing your story".
